As new media platforms continue to enable us to voice our own thoughts and opinions on a wide range of trending topics, we’ve not only gained the benefit to entertain and inspire the minds of numerous individuals, but have also, simultaneously, continued to ramp up the risks of giving up our own privacy to the rest of the world. As shown in Jessica Taylor’s article “ Attack Ad Marks New Era for Millennials Running for Office ,” the credentials of a young democrat named Jon Ossoff had been severely damaged when a superPAC aligned with GOP leadership had released earlier footage of him dressed as Han Solo in a Star Wars parody regarding his college’s alcohol policy. As a result, the public, rather than taking him in as a serious politician, had labeled him instead as a “spoiled frat boy” with no regard for actual political activities.
